Inspired by the small boutiques of Europe, founder Melissa Lovoy opened Lake in February 2007 in the heart of Silver Lake. Melissa envisioned Lake as a neighborhood shop filled with clothing, home décor, and apothecary items organized around a few simple ideas: fresh, modern, beautiful and well made.

Lake’s clothing and accessory collection consists of a well-edited group from independent designers, with a nod to a European aesthetic. The hallmarks of the collection are its mix of modern styling, enduring quality, and fresh silhouettes.

The apothecary is well stocked with primarily natural and organic products, handcrafted by small manufacturers.

Lake’s carefully sourced home collection includes textiles, ceramics, and gifts from individual designers and crafts people.

Melissa is continually looking for pieces that possess the perfect juxtaposition of opposites: casual & elegant, refined and raw, edgy and enduring, simple and sophisticated. Schooled at Parsons in New York, her background in clothing design provides her with an experienced eye for curating pieces that are both on trend and timelessly chic.
